WhatsApp is close to launching a new app designed for tablets, after so many years in which it has limited its use to smartphones.
In his day, that limitation could make sense. WhatsApp was born as a substitute for SMS and therefore, the idea was to use it on a mobile. But things have changed a lot, and all the alternatives to WhatsApp can be used without a mobile on any device.
After a platform change, WhatsApp is finally going to allow that, with multi-device support coming this year. We can use our WhatsApp account on four devices at the same time , without having to have the mobile associated or switched on. And one of those devices can be a tablet, thanks to WhatsApp Web, or a new app.
As WABetaInfo has revealed, WhatsApp already has a version of its app designed for tablets, with the interface adapted to the larger screen size. Specifically, the latest version of the WhatsApp multi- device function already allows us to use the iPad as a device associated with our account, so we can use it without the need to associate it with a mobile phone. In addition, the plan is that Android tablets will also be added in a future version, along with the rest of Android devices.

WhatsApp for iPad will not be a separate app, and simply the app for iOS that is already in the App Store will be updated to support the iPad; This will be a native app , developed for iPadOS and therefore should take better advantage of the tablet’s features. We can expect the same for the Android version, although in that case it seems that the work is a little behind.
